Even as a child, Christian Althaus wanted to combine his love of golf with a career in golf course architecture. He graduated in Munich-Weihenstephan as a Landscape Architect, and obtained the EIGCA Professional Diploma in Golf Course Architecture at the Institute of European Golf Course Architects in England. These are ideal qualifications for his work on our team today, where he applies his insight into the many aspects of golf course architecture. The -1 handicap player (whose achievements include German University Champion, Hesse State Ranking Winner, Junior Hesse Champion, and longstanding team player in the first and second national leagues) has belonged to the team at Städler Golf Courses since the beginning of 2004.

A huge admirer of many of the world’s most distinguished classical golf course architects, Christian has travelled to the US, UK, Ireland and Scotland to see and play on these courses. What fascinates him is the strategic design and unique character of many of the holes, and this has reinforced his admiration of the old masters of golf course architecture. Today this is a major inspiration for his own golf course design, which he applies to renovations with the help of historical pictures, or to new courses with high sporting standards. He is at home in all phases of golf course planning, and specialises in construction management.

Just some of the projects he played a key part in are: GC Neuhof, Frankfurter GC, Langeooger GC, GC Rhein-Sieg, GC Bad Nauheim, GC Föhr.
