Number of holes: 18 |
Project Manager: Reinmuth & Städler |
Construction of the 18-hole, links-type course 'Haxterhöhe' was initiated by Helmut Böhmer, the Managing Director of the non-profit Haxterpark GmbH and the Golf Academy of the University of Paderborn. The university is a cooperation partner in the project and will also use the course.
Apart from golf, the activities on offer will include therapeutic riding, archery, climbing and boule – all with a link to sports medicine. There will also be a social integration element: up to 60 people with disadvantages on the employment market, especially disabled people, will be offered full jobs. The first 16 people involved in the support programme will work mainly on maintenance of the golf course, but also in catering.
The course will be ready for play in autumn 2011 – also for the University Golf Club with its 780 members who are currently limited to the Golf Academy’s 9-hole course.

GOLF COURSE ARCHITECTURE 07/2010
German project wins Green approval
Städler architect Achim Reinmuth is in charge of the design of Golfclub Haxterpark, which has been in planning for four years. Conor Walsh is the lead shaper, following up from his work on the Castle course in St Andrews, Machrihanish Dunes and gWest, all in Scotland.
The project has been embraced by local politicians of all colours, winning endorsement by a large majority of city councillors, including Green members. "Golf is no longer an elitist sport, and this facility is a win for Paderborn," said Green politician Vera Esders.
NEUE WESTFÄLISCHE 08/2010
British-style dunes
The new golf course, with par 71 and a length of 5,625 m, is tournament-size. It will be constructed on a 60-hectare site as an undulating “dune course” in the style of British links courses, making it unique in North-Rhine Westphalia. It was planned by Christoph Städler and Achim Reinmuth. Construction is in the hands of construction company Brehmer of Epenwöhrden (Schleswig Holstein). Modelling, sowing and planting are due to be completed in 2011.
