Royal Golf & Country Club Melnik
Among the first reflections of any new golf course design will always be the type of landscaping which will be best suited. In the case of the Royal Golf & Country Club Melnik, we had to take into consideration that there should be a smooth, harmonious transition from Melnik Castle, the castle park, and the projected high-end golf resort into the golf course area.
Therefor, we decided to design the easterly transition sections in a park style, similar like an English landscape park. Large lakes which offer breathtaking lines of sight will be the primary features, complemented by dots of newly planted big trees.
In the western part of the golf course site, the scenery shall gradually shift into a hilly, heathery landscape, following the ideal of the famous heathland golf courses of the London sandbelt, like Sunningdale or Wentworth. Since such a golf course type does not yet exist in the Czech Republik, the heather environment is aspired to become the trademark of the Melnik golf course.
